Frequently Asked Questions
Ministry Response Network Group Master Insurance Policy
What is the Ministry Response Network?
The Ministry Response Network is churches helping churches. Participating churches can provide support, resources, and volunteer labor when another church experiences property damage. The Network will also consist of licensed tradesmen, when possible, from within these churches, who are able to assist in times of need.
Why is the Ministry Response Network important?
Helping churches address smaller losses may reduce the need for insurance claims, helping keep premiums lower for everyone.
How does this program reflect Biblical stewardship?
It helps churches keep more of their resources, build reserves for future needs, and support one another during times of loss.
Which insurance company will be carrying the Group Master Insurance Policy?
The primary coverage is provided by Lexington Insurance Company (AIG) and the excess coverage is provided by Landmark American Insurance Company (RSUI / Berkshire Hathaway).
What is the annual premium for my church?
The annual premium for your church is based on the Total Insurable Value. The rate is $4,500.00 per $1,000,000 for the Master Group Policy in effect for the OK District.
What should our church do with the money saved on premiums?
Churches are encouraged to place the savings into a reserve account for future repairs, maintenance, deductibles, and other property-related expenses.
How can this program help our church save money?
Because the program focuses on catastrophic losses, many churches may pay lower premiums and keep more money for ministry and future property needs.
What is the deductible?
| PERIL CATEGORIES | DEDUCTIBLE BASIS | DEDUCTIBLE |
| WATER* | PER OCCURRENCE | $25,000.00 |
| WIND / HAIL** | 5% PER BUILDING PER OCCURRENCE | $50,000.00 MINIMUM PER OCCURRENCE |
| ALL OTHER PERILS* | PER OCCURRENCE | $25,000.00 |
- A widespread event that causes damage to multiple church locations within a 72-hour period would be considered one occurrence, therefore subject to one deductible.
- A storm or series of storms, occurring in one day/night, causing damage to multiple church locations would be considered one occurrence, therefore subject to one minimum deductible.
What if my church isn’t able to pay the full premium up front?
Premium financing options are available through the insurance agent Professional Insurors.
How do I make my payment?
- When paying in full, please make your check payable to our insurance agent, Professional Insurors.
- When using the finance option, your down payment should be sent to our insurance agent, Professional Insurors; all remaining payments will be made to the premium finance company.
Is the goal to eliminate insurance claims?
No. The program is designed to provide coverage for major and catastrophic losses while
encouraging churches to work together when practical.
Is the District requiring participation in the Ministry Response Network Group Master Insurance Policy?
No, the District does not require participation.
Am I able to add the parsonage?
Yes, church buildings, parsonages, fellowship halls, and gyms can all be added, but it isn’t required.
Does the Ministry Response Network Group Master Insurance Policy cover liability, contents, workers’ comp and vehicles?
No, the Ministry Response Network Master Policy only covers buildings. The church will have to get liability, contents, workers’ compensation and vehicles covered separately from the Ministry Response Network Group Master Insurance Policy.
How do I get liability, contents and workers’ compensation since the Master Policy doesn’t cover them?
Contact your local insurance agent for coverage on liability, contents, workers’ compensation, etc.
Is this policy written on a Replacement Cost Value or an Actual Cost Value?
This policy is written on a Replacement Cost Value. The Replacement Cost is subject to the scheduled Building Limit chosen by the individual church location on Group Master Insurance Policy. (For wind/hail perils, there is an ACV roof endorsement applied to roofs 10 years or older.)
Is there a cosmetic roof damage exclusion for wind/hail perils?
Yes, the carrier will not pay for aesthetic impairment to any roof surfacing.
What if our church doesn’t think the Total Insurable Value amount is high enough?
The individual church location is welcome to increase the amount on the scheduled Building Limit for the Group Master Insurance Policy.
Are flood and earthquake classified as covered perils?
No, flood and earthquake damages are excluded from coverage.
What if I don’t get started at the beginning of the policy period?
Midterm entries will be prorated. For example, if the policy period starts in July, and your church comes onboard in January, a prorated amount will be due at signing. Then in July, your full premium will be due.
What if my church is unable to participate in the Ministry Response Network?
The Ministry Response Network is the backbone of this program.
